Community Day 2009
We had a wonderful day for our 3rd annual Community Day! The Lord greatly blessed us with beautiful, sunny weather. Many families came out to enjoy refreshments, games, crafts, and the water slide! We had the opportunity to connect with people we haven't seen in a while, register kids for VBS, and make our presence known to the surrounding community. Thank you Lord for your Hand of blessing, and thank you all for your hard work and enthusiasm. Together we are His Body. Please pray for the children whose lives can be touched by Jesus at VBS this year!

VBS Staff Training
Thank you to everyone who attended the Crew Leader Staff Training on Sunday. Here is some important information we went over:
-You'll have a crew of 3 to 5 mixed-age children.
-Each day children will choose a job to do within the crew.
-You'll begin in Sonic Sing & Play (the sanctuary).
-Then you'll rotate to the different station according to your daily schedule.
-Station Leaders will use a "Lab Blaster" as an attention-getting signal.
-Each day will have a Bible Point which will be repeated often, throughout the day.
-When you and the kids hear the Bible Point, you respond by saying "Aha!" and pointing your pointer finger up.
-It is important for YOU to participate, not just the children. It encourages them to get involved and excited!
-Make sure to follow the directions as much as possible. Power Lab was written for each part to work together!
-When discussing something as a crew, make sure to circle up, don't just allow kids to stand against a wall. This will maximize everyone' experience at Power Lab.
-Each day during snack, children will pick a daily challenge to put their faith into action. Then the next day during Sonic Sing and Play, your crew will discuss what they did, and place a "Daily challenge bubble" (balloon) in the beaker.
-Remember that VBS is more than learning stories and memorizing verses, it's experiencing God's love. Ask yourself this question each day...Would Jesus treat a child this way?
-Please see Amity for a Manual with more tips and information.
-Let's all pray for the children who will meet Jesus at Power Lab!

Community Day
This Saturday will be our 3rd annual Community Day from 1 to 3 p.m. It is always such a fun time for kids and adults. We will have our water slide, crafts, games and food. This is the perfect opportunity for your friends and family, as well as people in our neighborhood to get to know us and to register for VBS. I'm looking forward to this great day!
We will be setting up large items, such as canopies, on Wednesday evening. Friday morning I'll be pulling out all of the games from storage and organizing things, and Saturday we'll set the rest up. If you are able to help early, we'll be there at 10:00 a.m. We'd like to have everyone at church no later than 12:30 p.m. on Saturday to pray and be in place before guests arrive.
We will be keeping an eye on the weather. If we need to postpone due to rain, we will have this information posted here and the church website by Friday evening, as well as on the answering machine at church. Our rain date is next Saturday, August 1st.
Thank you all so much for your support of this outreach! You are all so appreciated.

VBS Crew Leader Meeting
On Sunday, July 19th, we will have a crew leader training meeting for VBS right after church (in the fellowship hall). I'll review the Power Lab basics, and give you a handbook with tips for your crew. If you are not a crew leader, but are helping in another capacity, this meeting would be beneficial for you as well, but is not required. I'm planning on about 30 minutes. I know God has been blessing this VBS, and I can't wait to see what He will do!
